My name is Marietta. Yes, I have a last name, but with a four syllable, semi-complicated first name, I usually go by just Marietta. I have lived all over the US my entire life because my father was a career US Marine, and I married a man whose career moved him often. In 2001, we moved to Texas and here we have stayed. This is the longest we have lived anywhere. Texas really is “a whole other country” – we love it here.
I didn’t know the Lord Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior until later in life. Sadly, this left me with ample opportunity to live without scruples as a teenager and young adult. But God is in the business of taking what the devil meant for harm and turning it inside out and upside down to bring Him and His Kingdom on earth the glory. That’s what He has done for me.
My hope for you as you read these posts is that you will be encouraged to examine your own life – cultivating the good in yourself while pruning and trimming those parts that need Jesus to intervene. This is a journey we are all on as followers of Jesus Christ – seeking to become a more accurate reflection of Him. This takes hard work and perseverance – it’s not for those who are Christians in name only. I challenge you to join me in this journey as we seek Him to change us so that others can see Him in us. His promise is that those who seek Him will find Him; and He always keeps His promises.
If you have ever seen a vessel (a ship or a boat) cut through water, you know that it leaves a wake as it moves. The wake spreads and changes the water it impacts. I see myself moving through life leaving a wake behind me. The wake I want to leave, although I don’t always get this right, is the Kingdom of God here on earth. From changing just myself to changing many, I desire that I displace the waters of the darkness of this world with the Light of the Kingdom of Heaven. It’s my sincere desire that you will be encouraged to effect a change where you walk in this earth – may you leave the Kingdom of Heaven in your wake!
